November is the month to give thanks. Between Thanksgiving and National Gratitude Month, we are reminded to be grateful and thankful for the things in life that matter. Gratitude does a lot for our mental health, it makes memories happier, helps us experience good feelings and it helps us manage stress. Overall, it just makes our mood better.

We will remember 2017 for a lot of things, including several natural disasters from major hurricanes including Harvey, Irma and Nate, to the California wildfires. At Brookdale, those significant events have a substantial impact on the people who live or work for Brookdale in the impacted areas. Our residents and associates rallied together with perseverance, patience and incredible spirits.

As the crisis communications lead here at Brookdale, I’m so grateful for the hurricane heroes and wildfire warriors amongst us. In times of disasters, it’s easy to focus on the challenges of the moment, but we can’t forget the countless, wonderful stories that we learned about during those unfortunate situations.
