Anna-Gene O'Neal, RN, BSN, Expert on Hospice and Home Health
Anna-Gene believes that patient-centered goals are stronger than disease-centered goals. As president of Brookdale’s Health Care Services division, her priority is to put quality of life back into the end of life discussion. This patient driven focus quickly made an impact on quality of care scores and increased associate engagement.
Early in Anna-Gene’s nursing career, she worked as an emergency room trauma nurse. The experience taught her the value and fragility of life. They are lessons she has carried through her hospice and home health career. She brought that passionate intensity to Brookdale in 2019.
Anna-Gene is a celebrated medical professional who’s steadily advanced into leadership and executive roles. Prior to joining Brookdale, she served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Alive Hospice. She received the Vanderbilt University School of Nursing’s inaugural Alumni Award for Innovation in Health Care in 2019, for creating a training program the helps clinicians have difficult end-of-life conversations with patients and their families. Nashville’s mayor appointed Ms. O’Neal to the Hospital Authority of Metropolitan Nashville and Davidson County in November 2019. She is a Registered Nurse and received BSN, MSN and MBA degrees from Vanderbilt University.
